What are the pros? Everything
What are the cons? So tall I couldn't reach ears
In 2018 we grew Golden Bantam, Country Gentleman, & Stowell's Evergreen corn. The Stowell's won in taste & texture and we will grow lots more next year. The other two varieties went in the compost. Like other's have commented -these non-hybrid/ non-gmo varieties are not quite as sweet as you might be used to, but they're better for you. Also make sure they get enough water in the hot summer months as that can help the plant produce better flavor. We watered every day in July since we had no rain. Ours was juicy & tender. My family loved this corn & we ate it all before we got to save any seed. We will triple the order next year. My stalks surprisingly reached 8-10 ft tall & produced a minimum of 2-3 ears per stalk.
