The old-fashioned type sweet peas boast a much stronger scent, and this variety, which was introduced by W. Atlee Burpee in 1903, is especially potent. The original Burpee’s catalog description boasts Janet Scott’s enormous blooms in a “pure pink of unusual character.” These are a perfect landscaping feature, making f loriferous mounds reaching 3 to 6 feet tall. It is a must for the cottage garden. The stems of old-fashioned types are best suited for home arrangements, averaging 3 blooms per stem with a luxurious perfume.
