A delicious old-fashioned sweet pototao that has golden-red skin and moist, flavorful flesh that is bright orange in color. The short bush-like vines produce good sized “clusters” of these earthly jewels. Easy to dig and grows well in our gardens. This variety was common for about 75 years and the first known mention was in 1868, but in modern times it has disappeared. So we are happy to bring it back into circulation and back to America’s dinner tables. A tasty treat that is part of our country’s history, although it may have been introduced here from Brazil. Very rare and hard to find!

We are super excited to be offering a selection of live plants, these are produced for us by tissue culture, a natural process that produces plants that are generally high-quality and disease free. We have some stunning new food crops in our plant listing, we hope you will try some of the exciting rare plants we offer this year. Pre-order now, as supplies on some these will be limited. The plants we ship are small, but sturdy, and we offer a 30 day guarantee on live plants. Most plants will be 6”-12” in height. Plants will ship as available after the first of April to the end of June. We will ship orders to southern zones first. No guaranteed delivery dates. No orders shipped outside of the USA. No Extra shipping costs, just pay our regular $3.50. (PRE-ORDER PLANTS WILL SHIP AFTER APRIL 1, 2018)

Review:

I grew sweet potatoes in Iowa! I put 6 slips in a rasised bed spaced about 2 ft apart, 5 slips survived. Planted Memorial Day weekend and harvested Labor Day weekend. I would have waited but it is suppose to get down in the 40s at night and I need to ckear a bed for garlic. Good sized ones for sure, cant wait for them to cure.

Review:

I live in a very hot climate. Sometimes dry (drought) hot but usually humid (very heavy air) hot. I got these plants and they were a little stressed from the trip. They were yellow but came back easily. Then they just sat there. I have them in containers because often it stays raining every day for a week or so and usually rots potatoes and softer root veggies. Well as I said they just sat there. I moved them to shade and they continued to sit there. Then I noticed they were turning back yellow so back to the sun. This time they turned a very pretty dusty rose and green shade but just sat there. So, I moved them again to a area that they get sun up until around 1-2 pm. Finally they are happy and starting to take off. Luckily here we often don't start getting to cold for most crops until November or later so hopefully I should be okay.
