Purple-fleshed type that is a Hawaiian locally-developed, signature type on the islands, but seldom offered elsewhere. Much higher in antioxidants than orange-fleshed types. Very sweet-fleshed and creamy, with overtones of chestnut. Perfect as-is when baked or roasted, needing no further adornment. Deep purple flesh and skins. (10 plants)

Please consider these terms before ordering live plants:
Most plants will be 3”-7” in height. Plants will ship as available after the first of March to the end of
May. We will try to ship orders to southern zones first. No guaranteed exact delivery dates. Plants may

Review:

Have a raised bed garden with super soil. You know, mushroom compost, mycorrizi, biochar, chicken manure , cow manure, potting soil. Planted 3 slips. Threw some Nitrogen on them 4 or five times and let my automatic watering system water every day...That's it! Each plant made about 4 gigantic sweet potatoes with deep purple flesh. Letting them harden out in the outdoors for a day and will bring in to eat. Probably the easiest thing I ever grew in 56 years of gardening.

What are the pros? Easy to grow, fast to harvest

What are the cons? none

Review:

I received three healthy plants. I put each one in a container. My thought was that I'd plant them in there until I had time to put them in their permanent raised bed. When I went to transplant them (maybe a month or so after receiving?), I already had potatoes! They weren't super big, but enough of them to make a delicious side dish for the family. I couldn't believe how fast they took off and how happy they were. The taste was great too.

What are the pros? Super sweet and purple!

What are the cons? None

Review:

Got 3 slips in 2017. planted them in pots until the bed was ready in July. Still got two buckets of sweet potatoes by frost. They were amazing! Sweet and flavorful, we ate them plain boiled without anything. I made a tub of sweet potato ice cream with coconut milk from a large tuber. It was delicious! We saved the smaller pieces for 2018 and the harvest was similar. Again keeping the smaller pieces, plus a few slips in a planter in the greenhouse, so I can have more. As an added bonus the soil around them ended up nice and loose, and the vines crowd out weeds.

What are the pros? incredible crop from 3 slips!

What are the cons? not as sweet as expected

Review:

I got 3 slips in around the start of may and planted them in a relatively small area (about 3x4 foot) with soil that was fairly loose, but not a lot of organic material in it. I watered regularly with the rest of the garden and let the vines crawl all over. It was fun watching the stuff spread. Then around the end of September I decided to dig 'em up and see what I ended with. I weighed them each and ended with around 50lbs between the three plants!!! I had an overflowing bushel crate. one of the potatoes was well over 3lbs, and most are over 2lbs. The potatoes are very mildly sweet, not nearly as sweet as a regular sweet potato, but they still taste great. They are very dense/dry, but mashing them with a llittle extra butter makes some fantastic mashed potatoes that are creamy and have a deep, rich purple color. My wife won't let me share our crop with anyone because she loves them so much.
