What are the pros? Beautiful, large, unique plant
What are the cons? Late to maturity, NEEDS stakes
So these were the most prone to dampening off in our spring, as seedlings; between Ping Tung, this and Aswad. Then out of the 3, they were the last to produce. I am hoping that the one eggplant, out of 6 plants, will mature with some plastic covering it. I will take cuttings of the others. It seems to be very much worth growing and has the most unique little, thorny flowers. We have a shorter season and had very low summer temps. So that is at play, I am sure. I am not demeaning these beauties, just writing for others in the PNW and similar climates. EVERY branch pretty much needs to be staked, lest it break under it's own weight. An appropriately sized cage would likely also work. I WILL be growing these again. Just want my fellow citizens of the PNW to know what the variables to work around are. Would likely perform much better under plastic or glass. Seed saving will hopefully aid in regional adaptation. I have a feeling that it is worth the effort. Cue Mighty Mouse.
