What are the pros? Flavor, insect resistence.
What are the cons? Absolutely none!
Bought 2 more packs of seed once I found out how good this variety was just in case these weren't offered for the 2019 season. My Filipina wife insisted I transplant volunteers that came up from last years crop of our regular variety on the same trellis and I knew this years crop would be crossed. Taiwan White is the deffinate winner and we will grow from now on! Eastern Leaf Footed Insects love our regular variety sucking the juices of the fruits causing about 1/2 of the fruits to color orange prematurely and be ruined. They don't seem to like the Taiwan White and we have had no losses due to the bugs, only a few overripe fruits we missed in the dense foliage. Vines are disease resistant and very prolific also! they have taken over the 8ft A frame trellis and are now also growing 6-8ft to either side on the ground. If you like Ampalaya you will love this large thick fleshed variety! A true winner and has earned a yearly place in our garden!
