What are the pros? vigorous, productive
What are the cons? not as mild as expected
I am already getting the first fruit off my TAM Jalapenos in mid-June. Considering that we live in an area known for cool springs and summers (which really stretches out the amount of time needed before harvest), this is a great feat. And, our spring was cooler than usual this year. But we have peppers already! And the other varieties (Joe E. Parker, Shishito, and a couple baccatums) haven't shown any sign of fruiting yet.
HOWEVER: I have to say, I was really surprised by the spice level in my first TAMs--about like a regular jalapeno to me. These are delicious, just not "mild," as advertised. I picked them relatively young--dark green and only about 3in long. Perhaps there is some genetic variation. I've only sampled from one plant so far (I have three). I'll have to see how the season progresses (and I'll update this review).
