120 days. From the Tarahumara people of Northern Mexico’s Batopilas Canyon area. This variety isn’t grown for syrup, but rather for the plump white seeds, which can be popped and eaten like miniature popcorn. Vigorous plants reached ten feet in our 2008 trials.

What are the pros? Heavy producers of seed

What are the cons? A little difficult to pop

Review:

Bought some of these seeds years ago from Baker Creek. Grew them in our garden in the valley. Don't let the description fool you though. Basically grew them in some horse manure atop a gravel bed (our NE Oklahoma "soil"). They grew great! Produced an immense amount of seed - much of which I still have in large (gallon?) zip lock bags! No drawbacks to growing these - just a bit of a challenge to actually pop the seeds. They end up like tiny little pieces of popcorn.

What are the pros? great tasting, easy to grow

What are the cons? takes a while to grow

Review:

I live in zone 9B. We had such weird weather in the late summer and fall of 2014. Rained for weeks straight, then no rain for weeks. Not a lot of sun. Slugs ending up killing most everything in my yard, EXCEPT this! My crop only got around 2-4 feet, but it still yielded about 1 cup of popcorn. I am sure, under better conditions it would have grown taller. It did take a while to grow. I planted in June/July and did not receive my first harvest until mid October.

Review:

The most exciting of nine sorghum varieties grown in '09. The seeds made excellent miniature popcorn and a good light flour (delicious pancakes). Good yield. Seemed somewhat prone to lodging. Not for syrup. I will continue to grow this one.
