What are the pros? Sweet and so pretty once cured

What are the cons? Not to many squash per plant

Review:

The squash took a beating with 2 hurricanes, heavy wind and rains, etc. but it still kept kicking. There weren't that many squash per plant but the ones we did get were absolutely DELICIOUS. So sweet and tender! I made one into a coconut curry soup, another into a squash bisque, and another into a pie. We have one left that is cured and it really did turn to a beautiful chestnut color between the beautiful deep green. I will totally grow this squash again but I'll plant more vines. I will note that the vines are pretty big so be sure you have space.

What are the pros? Prolific growth. Great taste

What are the cons? not enough fruit set

Review:

I live on the Eastern Shore where the summers are hot and humid. I grew these last year with a late planting, like in August and still got 7 pumpkins. This year planted early in April and have more coming on, but the squash bugs are taking over now in August. But they are definitely resistant to the squash vine borer. I had planted some other pumpkin varieties next to this variety and they had succumbed to the stalk borer by early July. The Kang kob didn't have any problem with then and still doesn't.

What are the pros? Good flavor

What are the cons? None

Review:

I planted seeds late (I believe in June), perhaps 3 plants. Plants grew huge vines (as others report). By the end of October, I had 5 mature fruits, two very large, 3 of modest size. As of the end of October, we have used one of the latter in a curry, good flavor, good texture (not too soft), Squash bugs attacked some other squash planted about 50 feet away, did not attack these. Seems to be very frost tender: some leaves looked as if had frost damage with night-time temperatures in high 30s or low 40s.

What are the pros? Don't know

What are the cons? easy prey to squash bugs

Review:

With thousands of acres of squash growing around the county, squash bugs are a devastating problem for my organic garden. This may be a wonderful squash, but it put up no resistance to the bugs. I planted it to check to see if it really was resistant to squash bugs but it fell quickly to the advancing armies intent on conquering.

What are the pros? Plant grew well, disease resis

What are the cons? Didn't set any fruit

Review:

Of 20 heirlooms this was the only plan to set on not a single fruit. The Black Futsu, yokahama, Crown, Jarrahdale were prolific.
