What are the pros? short DTM, productive

What are the cons? long vines, matures quickly

Planted this expecting bush habit, but the 6-foot runners overtook the surrounding rows. The dense growth will suffocate weeds if grown trailing, but the vines should really be trellised. The pods are under 12", so not really a "long bean". Aside from that though, it produced earlier than most other long beans, and was productive over a long period. Like their red-podded cousins, the red streaks in the pod remain after cooking. The pods have a shorter harvest window than many long beans, and develop seed quickly, so must be picked young & often. The cooked flavor was just OK for me, not as firm as I like. This might be a good choice for short-season areas where long beans are a challenge. I tried this primarily for its novelty; but there are many better varieties that succeed in my area (including others from BC) so I probably will not grow this again.
