What are the pros? Extremely versatile
What are the cons? None
This herb is so useful in both the garden and the kitchen. It's a great companion plant to distract pests, it's beautiful, and it is also quite hardy. The description says this thyme isn't winter hardy, but it grew all year here in Maine! I'm in zone 4b, so it usually gets around -20 at the coldest points of winter and both the creeping thyme and this common thyme thrived. I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised because not much survives a Maine winter! It can be a little tricky to start, just be patient, it is well worth the wait... and it will pay you back for years to come.
