Martino's Roma tomato is a compact, determinate heirloom variety that thrives in full sunlight and requires at least 6-8 hours of sun daily. The soil should be well-draining, fertile, and slightly acidic, with a pH range of 6.0-6.8. Consistent moisture is very important, especially during flowering and fruiting. Light support can be needed to keep fruits off the ground.
When to Grow
Start seeds indoors 6-10 weeks before the last expected frost date in your area. Transplant outdoors once the danger of frost has passed and the temperature consistently stays above 60 F. In shorter growing seasons, consider using black plastic mulch or row covers to warm the soil and protect young plants.

Sow seeds indoors 1/8 inch deep in a sterile seed-starting mix. Maintain a soil temperature of 70-80 F for optimal germination.
