These potent little flowers are a pretty yellow throughout. Stocky plants produce a profusion of canary-colored flowers that are incredibly potent. Flowers retain their numbing qualities when dried or made into a tincture.

What are the pros? Beauty and medicinal

What are the cons? None

Review:

We hope to keep growing this plant every year. It has been not only beautiful but a fun plant for the kids. They challenge each other to see who can completely chew and eat them. The taste is not one we particularly care for but the sensation is unique and changes the taste of food a little. We like it best as a tea with lemon and sweetener. I am drying some to have around over the winter.

What are the pros? ground cover;heat resistant

What are the cons? small seedlings

Review:

I thought these sounded interesting so I started them inside in February (zone 6a). They were slow to start indoors and I thought they were the tiniest little seedlings ever- I felt sure I was doing something wrong. When they got their mature leaves they were still small, but I moved them outside a few weeks after last frost. I really thought they wouldn't do much- they were so small and barely had roots when I put them in the ground. It took a while for them to mature (and slugs loved them) but sometime around July they started to take off. It's mid august and after the rest of the garden is dying, these are great groundcover that have cute button flowers on them. They spread out and have gobbled up all the space I allotted for them and more. The hotter it gets, the happier they seem. I've already ripped up other annuals to replace with fall plantings and these will go nicely with those as well. I'm really pleased with them.

What are the pros? Nice looker

What are the cons? Small short

Review:

I took a flyer because I liked the look of the flowers/heads. The plant itself is attractive and the little flower heads are just as pictured. It's smaller than I expected - less than 1 foot high with a mounding character. I had it in the wrong place and moved it - not sure if it will recover. I chewed on the bits and yes, it does have a tingling sensation. That's interesting but I have no need to do it again. Overall I like the plant and will grow it again.

What are the pros? Easy to grow, and beautiful!

What are the cons? N/A

Review:

I started this plant from seed in February, and here we are in July. It is simply beautiful, and makes a wonderful ground cover. One plant can cover about 2ft of diameter on the ground, so I paired it with Thyme. :) I'm about to harvest some for drying, so I can make tinctures and tea on demand. Thank you for such wonderful seeds!

What are the pros? easy to grow

What are the cons? dont know what to do with it

Review:

I was fascinated with this plant, thinking that it might make a nice potion. Someone else I know grew it and described the flowers as giving a sensation to your mouth much like "pop rocks" for those who remember these candies. Hearing this description gave me the courage to try one. Sure enough I got this tingling sensation and it has a very citrusy flavor. Surely there is a way to cook with this, maybe in stir fry. Or maybe it would make a great tea. I plan to dry some of the leaves and flowers to use later. Just wondering how safe it really is to consume and in what quantity. I am still alive but ate only one bud. I had no adverse affects. Plant is really easy to grow and fun to try.
