You will be pleasantly surprised to see these sweet little gems ripening in their first year planted from seed. Tresca is a super early strawberry variety from Poland that can be planted from seed and harvested in the first year! Fruit is picture perfect; shining bright red and bursting with flavor. This is not a particularly aggressive variety, so you do not need to worry about the plant sending runners to the far reaches of your garden; an excellent choice for containers. Said to be naturally disease resistant. We love these naturally sweet fruits for a filling in pierogi, a traditional polish treat!

What are the pros? seems hardy

What are the cons? none I can think of

Review:

I started a few seeds last spring. Only one came up, but I may have accidently planted a little too deep. In any case, the one plant I did get was healthy, and grew well. By the end of Summer I worried it wouldn't survive the Winter outside in the little pot but had read somewhere that strawberries need to have a chance to rest so covered the plant with leaves and hoped for the best. There was some very bitter cold spells here this Winter Some colder and longer than usual. Yet every time I went outside, I would check on the plant, It was by the door. While it got limp and sad looking it didn't appear to have died. Today, I cleared off the leaves, and not only had it survived, it had grown. The only damage I saw was where one of the leaves wasn't completely covered and the cold got it. I planted the rest of the seeds just a few minutes before writing this review. No fruit last year but I think it may this year. Not sure how I'll over Winter this year.

What are the pros? 7 day germination

What are the cons? None

Review:

I was nervous to purchase these seeds because the germination rate was ranged anywhere from 14 to 48 days! I have a small indoor gardening set up in my spare bedroom with seed trays on a shelf, LED shop lights, and a humidity dome. It only took 7 days for the Tresca strawberry seeds to germinate! I’ll write another review as the season progresses but thought someone might appreciate this information about the germination time in the right conditions. I didn’t do anything to the seeds prior to planting either. Just used regular seed starting mix, poured warm water over the mix to moisten it then sprinkled the seeds on top of soil. As mentioned before I used a heat mat, LED shop lights, and a seed tray with a humidity dome. I actually had to remove the humidity dome on day 3 as my other seeds (tomatoes and peppers) germinated much quicker so I used a fine mist spray bottle to lightly water them until they germinated.

What are the pros? Great price

What are the cons? Incomplete description

Review:

This is an everbearing strawberry!! The description does not say that- this is not what I wanted but I am planting them anyway. Please take note if you were looking for a single crop strawberry, keep looking!!

What are the pros? Fast growing, hydro friendly

What are the cons? none

Review:

I've been growing these hydroponically, both in systems with an air pump and in systems without. Compared to other varieties, they grow rapidly and fruit quickly. Under 18 hours a day illumination, I planted in late August, they were overgrowing my lettuce by November, and I had plants with 20 berries on them by January. I was also very impressed with the high germination rate and their seeming indifference to water oxygenation and my lack of attention. At one point I left town for 3 weeks and they drank the water tank down quite low. I refilled it when I returned and the plants hardly noticed. Fruit is variable in size and very sweet when harvested ~5 days after it reddens (when first red it is is very mild and requires extra time to ripen). Almost no runners as well. Definitely recommend this as a good starter strawberry. Much easier to grow than other varieties, and very productive. Very happy in hydroponics as well.

Review:

I was hesitant to try strawberries from seed, especially when the germination time on the packet read 14-48 days!! But now, just 7 days after planting, with bottom heat and covered containers to keep the surface-sown seeds moist, I have several tiny sprouts emerging!! I am very excited to see what these little guys can do!! Will review again with more info once they've grown awhile :)
