You will be pleasantly surprised to see these sweet little gems ripening in their first year planted from seed. Tresca is a super early strawberry variety from Poland that can be planted from seed and harvested in the first year! Fruit is picture perfect; shining bright red and bursting with flavor. This is not a particularly aggressive variety, so you do not need to worry about the plant sending runners to the far reaches of your garden; an excellent choice for containers. Said to be naturally disease resistant. We love these naturally sweet fruits for a filling in pierogi, a traditional polish treat!

What are the pros? Tons of berries, started fast

What are the cons? none

Review:

Really easy germination, 100%., just follow the directions on the packet. Growth took a while, seemed like forever till fruit production was underway. Planted 6 plants in an 8' gutter. Once they were producing, we picked 10-50 berries every day for a few months. Will buy again, the best berries I have ever tasted. The ones we planted in the ground got really big. 8,550'

What are the pros? A germination & Hardiness

What are the cons? Microscopic seeds

Review:

I wasn't sure I would be able to get these seeds to germinate. They were SO tiny and I nearly lost them to a breezy window. However, I placed them as best I could in starter trays in my indoor greenhouse. Lo and behold they germinated like champs! I thinned them out to one strong plant per cell and transplanted them out into my garden when the nights were fairly warm...maybe 45 degrees. They took to the garden right away and grew and grew and grew! They set fruit in late summer and are still fruiting a little in mid-October. They have become quite bushy and strong, sending out a few runners even. I am super impressed in every way. My only word of advice is be completely prepared with your germination materials before opening the packet. Pour the seeds into a small light colored bowl first. The teeny tiny seeds are really difficult to handle and set in place properly.

What are the pros? Delicious berries first year

What are the cons? Low germination rate

Review:

I love these strawberries! Started in February, they grew over the spring and in mid summer started producing. They were slow at first and are producing faster now toward late August & September. The flavor is superb, best strawberries I've eaten in a long time. Germination rate was low but I did not freeze them first. I plan to start more next year.

What are the pros? Lots of seeds per packet

What are the cons? Not quite what i expected

Review:

To be fair it could be something I'm doing, or not doing because I've never grown these before. I bought a pack of seeds and planted every single one of them and so far only one has made it to what could be called an actual plant. I've planted them inside, outside, in several types of soil, light, and watering conditions and so far I only have one plant. The one that made it is doing fine though for now so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. As I stated initially it could be my fault or just bad luck, but I probably wont be buying any more for a little while.

What are the pros? Great Germination

What are the cons? Grows Slowly

Review:

Taking off a star because the plants are still only 3 inches tall. Will revise the review if they actually bear this year. Sowed the seeds in February after storing them in the freezer for about a week. I think that every little seed germinated and it became very obvious that there are more than 25 seeds in the packet. After some aggressive thinning I now have 16 healthy plants and I am looking forward to seeing how they perform over the summer. A few tips for anyone who plan to grow these seeds: 1. Do not forget to give the seeds a cold treatment - it really helps with germination 2. Start them super early - they grow really really slowly at first 3. Do not start in a shallow tray or make sure to transplant to bigger pots once you get true leaves. I noticed a marked improvement in the growth rate once they were moved to 3 inch pots.
