What are the pros? Beautiful and delicious
What are the cons?
This is the best eggplant for flavor and tenderness I have ever grown; however, what grew was a little bit different than what is described. Our plants produced eggplants with the same coloration as pictured but they were not elongated or curved. They had the same shape as a regular supermarket Black Beauty eggplant and got that large with no diminishment of flavor or texture. But, they were SOOO much better. When sliced or cubed they held their shape but cooked to perfect tenderness no matter what we put it in. No pre-salting required. I love eggplant Parmesan, but my husband normally only tolerates it. Not with this eggplant. It has no bitterness, only sweet delicious eggplant flavor. It is the only time he has ever specifically asked me to make an eggplant dish again. They are slower growing than some other eggplants and mine were not as prolific as other varieties but what you do get can be left to get large without problems. They are also still producing in mid-November.
