What are the pros? Great Flavor, Early Producing
What are the cons? Narrow, but expected to be so
Wow! My new favorite hot pepper. They were useable (still green, not red) as early as any other hot pepper I had planted. I love to make Homemade Jalapeno Poppers and decided to try using these. No where as big or shaped to replace the Jalapeno but I cut off the tops, split open to dig out the seeds and membrane, filled them with cream cheese and bacon then baked them open faced. Wow the flavor was incredible, a whole different world of heat! While the heat was a noticeably hotter than the Jalapeno, it was not too uncomfortable because it dissipated quickly. I plan to grow many more next year. However, later in the year when I tried to make poppers with the more mature peppers the heat was more than I could handle. Perhaps I did not clean them out as well but if you are looking for a higher level of heat then I prefer, the mature peppers of this breed has it. I used them in Salsa but haven't tasted yet, can't wait to try it. A very broad flavor that keeps me wanting more!
