Tight clusters of pointed, two-to three-inch fruits point upwards, resembling sinister flowers! The pods are fairly mild when green, building heat as they ripen. Ripe red peppers exceed Cayenne in heat, are comparable to most Thai types. Flavor is similar as well. Traditional type also known as 'chilis japones.'

What are the cons? One-Dimensional

Review:

This pepper had a hard early life, but once transplanted into the soil it took off. The plants are gorgeous! It really does look like bursts of green, then red, flowers. Even when green these peppers are surprisingly hot, and when they are red they end up being perhaps in the range of mild habeneros. If you ever make Thai or Vietnamese curries, then this pepper will fill that need quite well. I mixed some of the green peppers with some Thai basil and chicken, and it formed an amazing base for green curry. The only issue is that it doesn't have a ton of flavor on it's own, or at least the flavor is so subtle that it is lost in the heat.
