What are the pros? Easy to grow, strong flavor
What are the cons? None
In the spring of 2015, we had moved and were setting up new garden boxes. These were my first try at growing storage unions for our winter root cellar. They germinated great in my winter sowing jugs and I only transplanted a couple 6 foot rows due to limited garden capacity. They grew great and ended up being nice and uniform, medium size bulbs with a nice strong onion flavor and they stored really well. We ate the last onion in February and it looked like I had just pulled if from the garden. Spring of 2016, we planted a whole 6 x 6 box (9 to a square) of these onions, harvested in September and I still have baskets of them in the root cellar for the rest of the winter!
