What are the pros? Everything

What are the cons? I'm running out of them

Review:

1st, keep in mind that radishes like cool, wet weather. If you read a bad review, where the grower did not provide these things, you can't really blame the radish. 2nd, they are a root crop, so they need phosphorus. Once again, if someone reports all greens and no radish; it is also an issue of user error. Growing in Oregon These things withstood PNW torrential downpour for weeks on end, a few freezes and just kept going. I thought that they would need an extra week or two due to lack of sunlight, but no, they finished right on time. The flavor is definitely sweeter earlier in the spring, but the spiciness is very pleasant, for those of us, who like radishes. The pictures do not do them justice. They have a nice crunch, that reminds me a bit of an apple. They have a hint of sweet nuttiness to them. I loved them enough to order 3 more varieties for the fall. I really, really love these radishes. The only problem was slugs, but that is par for the course here in the PNW. A hearty thanks to B.C.!

What are the pros? Easy

What are the cons? Too spicy and I'm Mexican

Review:

Spicy! The ones that got less direct sun grew the largest leaves but had smaller bulbs. They did okay in wet soil. The longest roots in my scenario were about 3in long (raised bed with compost tea).

What are the pros? Easy and pretty in salads

What are the cons? NOT SPICY

Review:

We like our radishes spicy, and these were some of the mildest we grew. Our crimson giants were hotter than these. Pretty disappointed. By the reviews it was 50/50 if they were hot. Maybe it is technique? They have a great smooth texture, and look pretty sliced in salads. Not a complete loss, but not what we were hoping for. Will stick to black spanish instead.

What are the pros? sets seed easily

What are the cons? Not cold soil tolerant

Review:

Have planted for 10yrs. Nice size, even when left to get larger doesn't split or get pithy. Very slow to bolt. Easy to get your own seed from. Seed stores well. Alittle on the spicy side. Tried to plant early this year with only handful coming up. Planted more a month later and all have come up. It doesn't like the colder soil. I have saved the first two that came up in cold soil for seed. Perhaps I can get some to adapt? happy growing.
