What are the pros? Summer or winter squash
What are the cons? Grows YUUUGE!!!!!
Such a garden spectacle. Spreads like wildfire so plan accordingly. I started growing up a trellis, then over the trellis and back to the ground. If you have the space I prefer the squash on the ground because they twist and turn for unique shapes, unlike linear shaped if they hang. Here's the thing, these babes grow fast- I learned to pick them small (5-9 inches long or less) for soft supple summer squash, any bigger they get mealy. I lost track of many in the garden and I just let them winter over. They become a deep orange in color and have the best squash flavor ever! I planted 2 seeds and I harvested hundreds of summer squash and I ended up with dozens of winter squash.
