(Datura metel) A wonderful dwarf version of this lovely plant, growing to about 20 inches tall and good for containers. The beautiful, large trumpet-shaped flowers can be creamy yellow and purple bi-color or pure white. Truly a show stopper! Rare and hard to find. (Caution: poisonous to humans, pets and livestock if ingested. Do not take internally.) 10 seeds.

What are the pros? Beautiful flowers!

What are the cons? Aphids, 1 day flowers

Review:

We planted these in a mixed bed in our greenhouse with tomatoes and plants. They grew large and strong very quickly in subsoil irrigation. One was white, the other purple. which is awesome. Ours got infested with aphids pretty quickly in the greenhouse. Ladybugs could barely keep up for a short time. The poisonous aspect is a bit worrying, but now that we know the size of these, we'll be planting them outside. Ours bloomed profusely, then started dropping leaves, then went through a whole other cycle of blooming a second time in the first week of Sept. The purple has a deep dark black stem as it gets large, so you'll know which color blooms are in store by that. We were able to save hundreds of seeds. Will see if we got pure genetics or if our white and purple crossed.

Seed started easily enough and the plants grew just great, have 2 with purple flowers, 1 with yellow and 1 that hasn't flowered yet but has buds. Will be growing these again.

What are the pros? Grew easily. Sturdy Plants

What are the cons? Didn't overwinter indoors

Review:

These reminded me of eggplants both in terms of structure and ease of growth. I started these indoors and moved to larger containers outdoors in mix of soli, peat moss and sand. Performed well in all respects. Exquisite blooms!
