Big, purple-black fruit are a favorite of seed collectors, who rave about this one's fantastic flavor! The dark, globe fruit weigh 6-14 oz and are borne on highly productive vines that start producing fairly early. These have a wonderful taste; the perfect blend of acid and sugars makes this one really stand out; highly delicious!

What are the pros? Average producer

What are the cons? Rotten ends issue

Review:

Average producer, good looking plants, but almost all fruits got rotten ends. So we ended up eating only couple fruits from the entire plant over the entire summer. Other plants in my garden (and we had over 20) had no issues even those that grew next to this kind.

What are the pros? Great flavor

What are the cons? Cat-facing badly

Review:

Wow. These might have been my favorite out of my tomatoes this year. The flavor on a perfectly ripe one was, well, simply better than all the others to my taste. Soooo rich and complex. Regrettably, they were very prone to cat-facing, whereas virtually none of my other tomatoes had this problem. Thus, I knock them for their "easy to grow" -ness. They were also not the most prolific in the world, which is typically okay with me, but when I combine that with losing 20-30% to really bad cat-facing (like, where 40 % of the tomato is scarred, and it ripens very unequally), I don't know if it will make the cut for me next year. I'd still recommend it. Could be my dirt or growing conditions that caused my problems.

Review:

I (like many) hand over a lot of extra tomatoes each year to friends and coworkers. Of 5 varieties I grew last year, this was the hands down crowd favorite. The color is just unusual enough to be noticed, the fruits are HUGE, wonderfully flavored, and so easy to grow. This is my new staple tomato.

I started growing these tomatoes last year and everyone who has tried them has said these are the best tasting tomatoes. I will grow these every year and increase the number of plants to make sure i have enough to go around.
