What are the pros? Bolt resistant, delicious
What are the cons? As spinach goes, none
I'm a grouch about spinach. I love it, but it bolts if you look at it funny and I usually don't get enough off a plant to make it really worth growing. I'd totally given up on the stuff till a couple starry eyed beginners I was gardening with insisted we give it a try. I grumblingly chose Bloomsdale Long Standing (more or less at random) and was shocked to find myself more than supplied with a weekly reoccurring supply of large, flavorful leaves for the majority of the spring.
It's still spinach, so it does bolt before anything else in the garden does, but not before making it worth your wile.
