What are the pros? Easy to grow, hardy
What are the cons? Small heads for large plants
These grew nicely for me in a large container garden. The heads never get large. I lost some to bolting because I kept waiting for larger size. But of the ones I did harvest, flavor is good, and they grow easily with minimal care. The plants themselves are rather large. In the future, I will only use these when I have lots of garden space. Unlike other plants from Baker Creek that really shine, the broccoli tastes about the same as from a grocery store, so in the future I will use my limited space for veggies that really reward home growing with better flavor like snap peas or radishes. This is not a critique; the broccoli is fine and grew well, even in a large pot. But with limited urban space I will not make this my first pick. I just wish I had more land! Growing in 7b, the California Bay Area.
