This totally unique variety is amazing! Smooth, 2- to 3-ounce fruits start off green with dark green stripes and striking indigo colored splashes. Fruits ripen to spangled brick-red with green stripes, complemented by lots of black anthocyanin giving this a very striking multi-colored finish. Very good, sweet rich and juicy flavor. Great ability to hang on the vine ripe and stay edible better than most. Good post-harvest shelf life, maintaining superb eating quality for weeks. Very productive, too. This new release from Brad Gates is a triumph!

What are the pros? Beautiful, tasty

What are the cons? takes a while to ripen

Review:

I fell in love with this tomato when I saw it in the catalog last year. It gave me so much happiness throughout the year, in both anticipation, and then in beauty and taste. It really is a gorgeous tomato, fits in the palm of your hand and looks like Hubble photos of nebulas. Dark red flesh inside contrasts well with the dark beautiful outsides - add a little to every tomato dish for color. The flavor is good too - it's not going to blow anybody out of the water but tastes just as good as most heirlooms, not too tangy, just a rich tomato flavor, and juicy. The main stalks were quite stout, which was nice for my windy location. The tomatoes seemed to take a while to ripen but they weren't later than the rest (cold year). They got to full size and then stayed unripe for a while. But even unripe they're dark purple with green striping on one end, so they're beautiful to look at. I will definitely grow this one again. Worth growing for looks even if they didn't taste good.

What are the pros? Early Ind., very prolific

What are the cons? Flavor is good but not fab

Review:

I will grow this again next year because it is so prolific and beautiful. Truly the prettiest tomato I've ever seen; I can see why it's named Cosmic Eclipse. The flavor is good, but not outstanding. My two favorite tomatoes are Striped German and Paul Robeson if that helps.

What are the pros? I have a lot of tomatoes

What are the cons? When do I harvest them?

Review:

I have a ton of tomatoes just not sure when to harvest. They a black and green with no brick red yet. Also they are much bigger than 2 to 3 ounces most of them. I can't wait to taste whenever that is they look so good.

What are the pros? Easy to grow so far.

What are the cons? None so far.

Review:

These appear to be either a slow grower, or they really need very hot weather. I'm not at all saying anything negative as of yet. I'm anticipating a HUGE production. It almost appears as if they are semi indeterminate, if there is such a thing. I think they are going to produce over and over, but bot get super tall like my other plants. I'm used to tomato plants getting 10 feet or more in height.
