90 days. One of the most popular heirloom types; this one has 7”-long fruit that are white with lovely bright purple stripes. They are so beautiful and have fabulous flavor with sweet, tender flesh. This excellent variety hails from Spain, a country that is renowned for fine food.

What are the pros? Beauty and taste

What are the cons? None

Review:

This was my first time growing eggplants. I started them inside from seed on a heated mat in three pots. Almost all the seeds germinated and I had to cut back to three plants. Transplanted them into three 4 gallon plastic tubs filled with compost and potting soil. Here in early August we have already had about eight fruits with more on the way! I'm not a big eggplant eater but these have the best flavor I've ever had and will definitely grow them again next year, but maybe just one or two plants. These seem really prolific.

What are the pros? Good price, good taste

What are the cons? Nothing

Review:

I grew three kinds from rare seeds this year. Two didn't germinate at all. They were very susceptible to fungus gnats. That was my fault, however, these all germinated well. I had 60 plants and 45 made it and are now producing beautiful berries. The taste of these eggplants is fantastic. It is slightly sweet and not bitter. It fries and bakes well. Overall, I am very pleased. It was an easy plant to grow, and my suggestion for those who are having issues is to use a heat mat and a basic seed starter. Then, transplant into a small container of ocean forest soil. Worked like a charm.

What are the cons? Not much. I grew too many!

Review:

We grew three of these plants this year, and had so much eggplant! We're still eating it well into winter. Very productive for us (we had an abnormally hot summer with temperatures often over 100 degrees and rarely below 90). We treated them like the tomatoes, with fertile soil and a little bit of compost in the bottom of the planting hole. We had so many we gave away 5 bags full to the local food pantry! Very tasty plants - I didn't like eggplant and only grew them because they were pretty, but now they're one of my favorite things in the garden thanks to Listada de Gandia. They tasted about the same at every stage, until they turned yellowish. They're also the prettiest things, and give me lots of joy to see. Will always grow these.

Review:

A beautiful and prolific eggplant. Although not sold as a larger variety, mine was very wide and around four feet high. It stayed in constant production until the first frosts. The eggplants held extremely well on the bush, and even after an extended time were as sweet as when very small. I will always grow this eggplant in the future.
