What are the pros? Tasty and easy to grow
What are the cons? Grows fast
I had never grown asparagus before but my wife loved the stuff so I ordered the seed. I planted this three years ago in the downhill sloping boarder of garden where it would get the run off from the spring rains. I put the seed directly in the ground and they came up in abundance. I allowed the plants to go to seed the first year and now the entire western border of my garden makes two to three cuttings a year of these delicious spears. I have to stay ahead of the growth because they do become fern like and go to seed fast in the summer. I cut the spears about a quarter of inch below the soil at an angle and they replenish and grow again. I have even learned to enjoy the spears because it taste so much better fresh than it does when bought at a grocery store and by growing it ourselves we know what we are getting.

What are the cons?
I planted mine in a pot in 2011 and then transplanted them to my community garden in 2012. I can't believe how many I have! I'm going to have to go through them and thin them out this winter.. I must have had 100% germination rate. There are so many of them it's like a little forest. I can't wait to start eating them next year.
