A Roman heirloom that was sent to us by Signor Barbetti from Italy. The fruit are large and are deep red with almost a purple tint. The flesh is very rich, flavorful and juicy. An excellent tomato for home and market gardeners; very rare and delicious.

What are the pros? Great flavor

What are the cons? none

Review:

I set out 2 of these but have 3 plants because another one came up volunteer from last year's crop! These taste wonderful! Sadly, the local squirrels think so too. The little hoodlums have done more thieving and vandalizing this year than I would have thought possible!

What are the pros? Hearty, Good Producer, Tasty

What are the cons? I didn't grow enough of them!

Review:

These tomatoes are absolutely delicious. The plants have grown quite well in my garden this year. We will definitely be growing them again! Each plant has produced a large amount of fruit, and their taste is exceptional. Review:

Quite possibly the best tasting tomato I've ever had. Very meaty, with little seed and incredible flavor. Fabulous!

Review:

Raw or cooked, these take me back to the late summer harvests of my childhood, when eating my vegetables was a treat. Tomato sauce spoke for itself, without many other flavors and absolutely no sugar. I've saved seeds since the first season I've grown these. Each generation of seeds gave me 100% germination, vigorous plants and great harvests through late summer and fall. Fruits are medium to large, round or fluted, saturated red and full of flavor. They do have a lot of seeds, but if you sprinkle salt on some slices they still work in sandwiches without getting too soggy. Raw slices are delicious, but don't eat them all raw. Pantano Romanesco makes a fantastic soup or sauce (probably ketchup too, but I haven't made that yet).

What are the pros? deep red, juicy

What are the cons? wish I got more on the plants!

Review:

These did great last summer in a narrow flowerbed with mostly sun. One of my favorite red tomatoes to grow. Very juicy. Quite a few seeds, so not fun for processing but wonderful for eating fresh off the vine. Not an over-abundant crop on the 2 plants I had, but definitely a keeper and worth growing every year. A great slicer, full of flavor.
