90-100 days. These beautiful, oval melons have dark green, glossy rinds and deep red flesh. This great old melon has become very rare.

Review:

I grew this variety for the first time in 2010. Three plants produced more delicious melons than I could give away. The flesh was firm and sweet, very juicy. I look forward to growing this one in 2011 with the saved seeds.

Review:

This watermelon was an epic failure and I don't know why. The vine never grew longer than 2 feet and maybe had 6 male flowers, and then stopped. Maybe it was the soil, temperature, climate, sunlight, or something else. All my other vining plants (acorn squash, cucumbers, & cantaloupe) have done excellent, grown huge, and produced tons of fruits, so I don't think the bad watermelon was due to my gardening. Hopefully you will have better luck than me with the Picnic Watermelon.
