Large, round-headed purple chokes, tender and tasty, perfect for warm season areas, or grow with shelter. So popular with chefs, and is a sure seller at the finer markets. We are proud to introduce this regional Italian favorite.

What are the pros? Quick growing, productive!

What are the cons? nothing!

Review:

I ordered these seeds early this spring and started four plants indoors as suggested. I moved them outside and planted them in my tire rounds with a combination of good ol' south western New Mexico alkaline soil, compost and plenty of fresh manure from my rabbits. My neighbor also gave me two of her globe artichoke starts as well to plant. It is now the third week of July, the 2 globes are growing nicely and the four purples are varying in size from small to huge with the largest having already put forth three artichokes! The first one I greedily cut off, cooked up, and devoured the most tender and flavorful artichoke I have ever eaten and believe me I've had plenty being an old California native! Compared to the globes I find these to be much more tender and I believe they must tolerate our drier air and heat better than the other. I am very happy with their growth habit and early productivity; must be the rabbit droppings, LOL!!!

Review:

I've been growing this for over a year and I have a giant plant but no head. I will give it one more year before I pull it. It takes a lot of real estate and doesn't produce much (or anything). This one is heading out soon...

Review:

I planted these from seed almost 2 years ago, & they grew very large but never produced artichokes. They seem to do better in the winter here. When should they produce??

Review:

I don't really know where to start. I ordered these and everything came as expected. I ordered 2 different artichoke varieties I planted one seed of each (I know I'm supposed to start with 2 or 3 three)But this shot up out of the soil after only a few days! Then a few days later one of it's cotyledon got broken off, I was worried that it would effect the seeding but it just kept going like nothing even happened!I highly recommend these! I'll keep you posted on progress.
