Bush, 56 days. Tender, bright purple pods turn green when cooked. Very ornamental, beautiful and tasty. A good home garden variety.

What are the pros? Very pretty

What are the cons? Not quite productive enough

Review:

My soil isn't all that great, and I'm not a super attentive gardener. If you're in my situation, you'd be better off buying some pole and/or black-eyed beans- these are amazing producers. However, these are gorgeous. If you, like me, like pretty food, these do the trick. And kids love them too. They don't take up too much room, the flowers are pretty, and they taste good. Also, they'll only help the soil.

I did not think I would like these beans. There now my fave.Leaf mold worm castings seaweed and sunfish;) Two seeds produce more than this big guy could eat.

What are the pros? Colorful Beans

What are the cons? Change color when cooked

Review:

These beans are outstanding! I really enjoy going out to pick them since not many other people near me have beans like this. And they taste delicious as well. Only downside is that they turn green when they are cooked, but that's not really important. Great beans!

Review:

Purple you say, never I said! Just looking at a purple vegetable made me sick, but my sister gave them to me before she passed, so I had to try them. To my delight I was excited to report to friends, and family, they really did turn green with the blanch. The best eating bean I have ever grown in Mother Earth. I dried several to plant the following year only to misplace them until your wonderful catalog arrived. I always grow a few yellow wax to mix with the Royalty for color when I freeze them. Looks nice on a holiday table.

What are the pros? Best taste, easy to grow

What are the cons? none

Review:

We have grown Blue Lake green beans for years. We decided to try this bean 7 years ago and it easily moved to our #1 bean. We like to mix them with Purple Hull Pink Eye peas to cook and can. We still have to plant Blue Lake Beans which are given to family, friends, & to share with community- but these we keep for ourselves. Easy to grow, keep them watered and picked and they will produce until frost.
