We offer here the esteemed "Cigarette Pepper" of Bergamo, Italy. The long, slender cigarette-shaped fruit are highly popular in salads, due to their great taste. It is also perfect for pickling and frying. A delcious and hard-to-find variety.

What are the pros? flavor, apperance, compactness

What are the cons? none

Review:

I was so happy to find this pepper from here. I killed the summer ones, but fall ones grew beautifully. I let them ripen fully to save seeds. They have sweet and complex rich flavor when they are fully matured. Compact plant. The plant and the fruits a very aesthetic. My first matured one.

What are the pros? long tender shape

What are the cons? the plants are delicate

Review:

Everyone likes these peppers. They aren't quite as flavorful as the shishito or Jimmy Nardello peppers. But I love the size and look of them. They taste great and have no heat. They fry up quick and tender. We cook them whole with shishito peppers and sprinkle them with lime juice and salt. The plants are smaller and more delicate than all the other pepper plants that we've grown. But the small plants are completely loaded with an enormous quantity of peppers. It can be hard to pick the peppers because they are packed so close together. They are very sweet when they just start to turn orange. We eat them then and don't bother to wait for them to turn fully red. Maybe they'd be even more flavorful if I had the patience to wait until they turned fully red or if grown in a location with a longer growing season. We will definitely grow them again next year.

What are the pros? Delicious

What are the cons? Never enough

Review:

I grew this for the first time last year just as a trial. It quickly became my favorite pepper as I would go to the garden and snack on these straight off the plant. They look like they'll be spicy, but weren't. It was easy to grow and I was disappointed when fall and winter came. I'm tripling this years planting of this pepper.
