The beloved “hanging tomato of Vesuvius,” Piennolo di Vesuvio is an early-maturing cherry tomato whose flavor deepens and sweetens in storage. This historic tomato of Naples has thick skin and a very low water content, qualities that make them excellent for storage. Our friend Evan Gregoire at Portland’s Heirloom Seedhouse describes the flavor as “lively, intense, and sweet-sour.”
