A large drumhead cabbage, very cold hardy. A fall/winter type cabbage that stores very well. Introduced in 1924, it is an excellent market variety that is becoming rare.

What are the pros? Huge Cabbage, nice flavour

What are the cons? None

Review:

As one viewer mentioned, these were free seeds. I was initially reluctant since it takes up much space and the dreaded cabbage moth. So I put them in large pots and watered regularly. I only grew three. One weighed in at 12 lbs. About 5 lbs dressed. The free pack contained quite a few seeds. I will be growing these again. Thank you Baker Creek. You are my go to for heirloom seeds

What are the pros? Beautiful

What are the cons? none

Review:

I never planned to grow cabbage because my allotment isn't very big. But Baker Creek sent me a free pack of these seeds so I thought, why not try. Well, they grew up to be beautiful cabbages. I probably could have left them for a couple of more weeks but they were solid. Juicy lovely cabbages. No holes because I routinely sprayed with BT. They were very photogenic. Shredded for a sautee/stirfry. Will make a cole slaw soon. I grew out a second batch of seedlings and my neighbours have some and I have one for October harvest. This has made me change my mind. Next year there will be more cabbage.

Review:

So far in my garden this variety has been doing very well. It grows fast, and very high germination. My rabbits love the huge leaves. Have yet to mature expecting very good results

What are the pros? Size, hearty, easy to use/grow

What are the cons? Nothing

Review:

I grew three varieties of cabbage last year, and I threw in these for an experiment (they were given as a free seed variety). They produced the best out of all the cabbage and were huge!!! We live in zone 4 and had a cool damp season last year and they still were healthy and enormous! I harvested these in the beginning of August.

Review:

Wow! God truly blessed my garden with this addition last year. I did plant late for 2017 and had several gardeners tell me that I was way too late for cabbage. However, with water love and prayer I was able to harvest a 16 pound cabbage from this seed in the fall. It made delicious meals and I cannot wait to start them for this year's garden. Definitely a seed I want to keep producing all year long and has sparked a love for cabbage I never knew I had. One item of note is that this as well as one other plant got bugs on them last year. I didn't use any pesticide and there wasn't a lot of harm done, but will be more vigilant in the future to take care of these babies. Worth it in the end!
