Milas Mixed Agrostemma

Annual. Old-fashioned cottage-garden favorite, native to the eastern Mediterranean. Dapper 5-petaled flowers are extravagantly produced atop 3-foot stems in summer and fall. Each satiny blossom is two inches across in the most cheerful pinks and purples imaginable, all grading to white at the center. Contrasting darker striping sets off the color scheme splendidly. Spectacular at the rear of the border or in front of a stone wall. Makes a fine cut flower, too! [Cannot ship to AR or SC.]

What are the pros? Early, Pretty, Frost Tolerant

What are the cons? None

I've grown this for the past three years and I really like it. It's somewhat frost tolerant and very easy to grow in my garden. I'm in Kentucky, zone 6b/7. I direct sow the seed into a prepared bed at the end of September, the seeds germinate and survive the winter (even get covered in snow). Not all the plants make it through the winter, but a majority do. They usually bloom at the beginning of May, for me. It's nice to have flowers early. They also do extremely well direct sown as soon as the ground can be worked in the spring. You can check out my flowers here: Sorry, if links aren't allowed! I'll definitely be growing these again. I love how tall and airy they look when the breeze is blowing!
