Annual. Dahlia-flowered type is one of the tallest we’ve seen! The flowers are extra large and brilliant amethyst-purple, with pale green centers. Fine for cut flowers but the lavish display is best appreciated right in the garden, especially planted en masse. Beloved in gardens since 1949. Fabulous!

What are the pros? Color, quick growth

What are the cons? Mildew

Review:

These are great zinnias. You might need to stake them. Mine all died of mildew. I thought it was from spring humidity, but they died in summer on the south wall of the house, too. Then i figured out my neighbor's tree had powdery mildew, so no wonder it's been impossible to keep zinnias/curcubits alive. I might try the front of the house. But these are a great plant. Really beautiful. And theyre quick - i got flowets out of most of them before they got infected.

What are the pros? Beautiful

What are the cons? Stem can sometimes be weak

Review:

These are very lovely in the garden & I will plant again. They are quite tall & because of that, sometimes the stems can be a bit floppy. This isn't a big issue for me. They don't last very long as cut flowers for me, but are beautiful in the garden.

What are the pros? loads of long lasting blooms

What are the cons? stems break easily at joints

Review:

These zinnias get HUGE. I have one planted in a large container near a porch railing. The plant is 4 feet tall and still growing. Some of the flowers are 4-5 inches across. Planting them near a fence or railing gives them some support. In wet weather the flower heads get heavy and the plant tends to break easily where the stems branch. These make great cut flowers and are really a beautiful dark purple. Will be planting these again next year for sure.
