Job Descriptions

Job Openings Graphic and call to action

At Baker Creek Heirloom Seeds, everything we do is rooted in a love of real food, living history, and the belief that seeds — and the stories they carry — matter. We're growing our team and looking for talented, passionate people who want their work to mean something.

Here's who we're looking for:

---

KITCHEN MANAGER— VEGAN CUISINE & HEALTHY LIVING

You know your way around a kitchen and you genuinely love vegetables. We're looking for an experienced kitchen manager who specializes in plant-based, nutrition-forward cooking and understands what it takes to run a professional food operation from the ground up. You can plan menus, manage a kitchen efficiently, think about nutrition intentionally, and make healthy eating feel exciting rather than obligatory.

But this role is more than the kitchen. We want someone who is comfortable and confident on camera — someone who can demonstrate a recipe, walk through a cooking technique, or talk about the why behind an ingredient in a way that connects with people. You love to teach. You get excited about turning a humble garden harvest into something extraordinary, and you want to share that excitement with an audience that's hungry for it — literally and figuratively.

If cooking vegetables is your craft, education is your calling, and the camera doesn't scare you, we want to meet you.

SENIOR WEB & CLOUD INFRASTRUCTURE ENGINEER

We need a seasoned technologist with deep experience in complex software and web architecture, ideally with hands-on Azure cloud experience. Magento Open Source is a must — you should know it well enough to architect solutions, not just maintain them. Experience with Hyva frontend is a strong plus, and we expect a genuine commitment to modern UX and web accessibility standards — not as an afterthought, but baked into how you build.

Familiarity with Cloudflare and Cloudinary is a bonus, and comfort working across the broader stack — Google, Meta, and Adobe Creative Suite — tells us you can collaborate across teams and think beyond pure backend. You'll also need a solid understanding of modern AI tools and how to put them to work in a real e-commerce environment.

Strong SEO fundamentals are expected, and we want to see proof that your work has actually moved the needle — better rankings, better traffic, better performance. Show us your work. If you can think at a systems level, navigate legacy infrastructure, and build confidently for the future, we want to hear from you.

MEDIA COORDINATOR

Behind every great piece of content is someone making sure it actually gets made, gets out on time, and lands the right way. That's you.

We're looking for a strong media coordinator who can sit at the center of all our creative efforts and keep everything moving. You'll work across teams — with our video producers, content creators, kitchen talent, writers, and web team — to manage schedules, deadlines, publishing calendars, and production workflows. You're organized without being rigid, and you understand the creative process well enough to support it rather than slow it down.

You should have a solid grasp of social media platforms and how content performs across them, a working knowledge of digital marketing fundamentals, and the communication skills to keep a lot of people aligned and on the same page. Hands-on experience with Jira and modern agile workflows is a must — we work in sprints, we move fast, and we need someone who can manage both creative and technical production pipelines without dropping the ball. Experience with Google Workspace and content scheduling platforms is expected, and familiarity with video production workflows and Adobe Creative Suite is a strong plus.

This is a role for someone who takes ownership, stays calm when things get busy, and genuinely cares about putting good content into the world. If you thrive in a creative environment and love bringing order to ambitious ideas, we want to hear from you.

VIDEO PRODUCTION & POST-PRODUCTION EDITOR

We have a story worth telling and we need talented people to help us tell it visually. We're looking for video production and post-production editors who can work across the full pipeline — from planning and shooting in the field to delivering polished, finished content that feels authentic and alive.

You should be comfortable with the technical side of production — camera work, lighting, audio — as well as the creative side of editing: pacing, color, sound design, and storytelling through the cut. Experience with Adobe Creative Suite is expected. Bonus if you've worked on food, lifestyle, nature, or documentary-style content. We're not looking for corporate polish — we're looking for something real.

---

CONTENT CREATORS — BRING YOUR AUDIENCE

We're not looking to build a channel from scratch with you — we're looking to partner with creators who have already done the hard work of building an engaged, loyal audience. If your content lives in the world of heirloom gardening, seed saving, homesteading, plant-based food, sustainable living, or healthy eating, there's a good chance your audience and ours overlap in meaningful ways.

Tell us about what you've built, what your audience looks like, and what you think a collaboration with Baker Creek could look like. We're open-minded and excited about the right partnerships. Come with your ideas.

---

WRITERS & GARDEN HISTORIANS

This one is special, and it's not for everyone — but for the right person, it might be a dream.

We have decades of seed catalogs, grower correspondence, botanical records, and living history sitting in our archives. Varieties with stories behind them. Gardeners who wrote letters. Traditions nearly lost to time. We're looking for writers and garden historians who would love nothing more than to dig through that material carefully and bring those forgotten voices and stories back to the surface.

You might have a background in history, botany, food writing, or journalism — or you might just be someone with an obsessive love of old seeds and the people who grew them. Either way, we want your curiosity and your craft. Show us your writing and tell us what draws you to this kind of work.

---

DON'T SEE YOUR ROLE HERE? TELL US ANYWAY.

If you're a passionate heirloom gardener who lives and breathes this world and you believe you have something meaningful to contribute to what we're building — we want to hear from you. We're always open to people who lead with genuine love for this work. Surprise us.
