When to Grow

Plant One Direction bulbs late in the season, ideally in November, when cooler fall temperatures help protect against fungal pathogens and hungry squirrels. Set them 6 to 8 inches deep and 4 to 6 inches apart in sandy, well-drained soil with full sun to light shade. Because most tulips send up a single stem per bloom, plant in clusters of 10 or more for a full showing.
