Description
(Calendula officinalis). Calendula is incredibly versatile with boundless culinary, healing, pest-repelling, and ornamental properties. We love this new twist on the traditional calendula; soft yellow-pink petals have a surprise cerise color on their backs. This dual color pattern gives the blooms a bold, three-dimensional effect. An excellent companion plant for tomatoes in the garden or containers! Another wonderful selection from plant breeder Frank Morton.
Growing Tips: Sow in place in fall or spring, or start plants indoors and grow for several weeks, setting out after last frost. These tall-ish (20-30 inches, typically) plants require full sun, rich soil, and moderate moisture. Will bloom all summer; cut often or deadhead spent blooms for more flowers. Easy to grow in containers, and very attractive to pollinators. Often self-sows.
