Tomato Seeds,
Abe Lincoln Original
Description
(Solanum lycopersicum). The Original Abe Lincoln tomato: The winning flavor and size of this classic red, meaty beefsteak will transport you right back to Grandpa’s tomato patch. This wonderful old heirloom was shared with us by Diann Dirks, The Garden Lady of Georgia. Diann is an avid heirloom grower. She received these seeds from an elderly gentleman with whom she struck up conversation at the gas pump one day. The man told her that he had seeds for the original Abe Lincoln tomato and she happily grew them, eventually sharing seeds with Baker Creek. The Abraham Lincoln tomato was released by H.W Buckbee’s in 1923, and despite its exquisite beefsteak flavor, it is quite rare! We are fortunate that Diann decided to share this tasty treasure.
Growing Tips: Plant in a location that receives full sun exposure, for at least 6-8 hours daily. Use well-draining, nutrient-rich loam soil with a pH between 6.0 and 6.8. Regular deep watering, about 1-2 times weekly, helps prevent stress; adjust based on rainfall.
