FAQ
Can Blue Ethiopian Emmer be eaten, or is it just ornamental?
Both. The lightly blue seeds and heads can be eaten as a whole grain or milled into a flour, and the plants are also incredible for floral design and landscaping.
How big do the plants get?
They are robust and reach about 4 feet tall, producing lightly blue seeds and heads.
How do I know when to cut and dry it?
Harvest the seedheads when they are fully mature: stalks and heads will show little to no green and will be mostly dry. Harvest individual heads or cut in sheaves depending on the size of your stand, let them dry for about 2 weeks in a well-ventilated area, then thresh the wheat and winnow the seeds from the chaff.
