The Ozark Store

Step into our farm and pioneer village, nestled on a historic homestead just outside Mansfield, Missouri, and you’ll feel as though you’ve slipped into a quieter, simpler era. Open year-round, the village celebrates the self-sustaining lifestyle that heirloom gardeners cherish—where seeds are saved, stories are shared, and the land provides all you need with a bit of patience and care.

At the heart of the village is our seed store, a cozy gathering place that feels part museum, part mercantile, and all heirloom magic. Inside, you can wander through more than 1,000 varieties of open-pollinated and heirloom seeds, each one a living link to generations past. Our friendly, knowledgeable staff are always nearby—ready to help you choose the perfect seed for your garden, offer expert guidance, or chat about the joys of growing your own food.

The store itself is a treasure trove. Alongside rare seed varieties and bits of Baker Creek history, you’ll find useful tools, gardening supplies, sewing notions, home goods, and books—everything you might expect from a well-stocked pioneer outpost. It’s a place where modern gardeners can reconnect with the traditions that shaped a more self-reliant way of life.

Outside, the pace slows even further. Sit a while on the porch and take in the sights of our Village Garden, carefully tended to showcase the beauty and abundance of heirloom plants. Wander the grounds where the atmosphere recalls an old-time settlement, complete with handcrafted buildings, peaceful pathways, and a welcoming sense of community. You might even catch a bit of entertainment in the seed store theater, where stories, music, and heritage come alive.

Please note: Store hours vary with the seasons, much like life on the homestead. We welcome visitors Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the summer, and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. throughout late fall, winter, and early spring.
